Criteria and Procedures for Applying for Permission to Trade or Possess Protected Forest Products

     For those conducting businesses involving the trading of protected forest products, it is a service provided by the Department of National Parks. As outlined in the 1941 Forest Act, Section 29, no one may trade or possess such items without permission from the relevant authorities and must comply with the stipulations in the Ministerial Regulations. The 21st edition of the 1974 Ministerial Regulations issued under the 1941 Forest Act, sets that anyone wishing to trade or possess protected forest products beyond the amount declared by the Minister in the Government Gazette must submit an application using form Khor Por 1 or Khor Por 2, depending on the case, to the local authority of the district, sub-district, or province where the trading or storage of the protected forest products takes place.

The work procedures will start counting the duration from when the officer checks the completeness of the documents. The steps are as follows:

  1. The officer checks the accuracy of the documents and registers the request. This process takes 1 working day.
  2. Await the consideration result from the National Police Office. This process takes 30 working days.
  3. The officer checks the location/prepares a summary of the case to submit up the chain of command. This process takes 7 working days.
  4. The officer sends a letter to the relevant agency to verify the qualifications of the applicant. This process takes 1 working day.
  5. The Director-General of the Department of National Parks signs the permission and notifies the results of the permission consideration.
  6. Payment of fees.
