Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is well known among international visitors as it is world famous for tourism and has been featured in global rankings quite often. Thanks to social progress and its being an important economic city of the country, Bangkok has the largest population in the country, with 5,501,651 people (data from October 2022, Department of Administration). Bangkok is considered a special administration zone. Bangkok’s governor is directly elected by the city’s people. It also has the longest city name in the world. The Chao Phraya River, one of the nation’s important rivers, runs through the heart of Bangkok, dividing it into two municipalities, namely Thonburi on the west bank and Bangkok on the east bank of the river. Bangkok is the city center of the country in terms of administration, education, transport, finance and banking, commerce, and communication.
Bangkok was ranked the first out of the best cities in DestinAsian Magazine’s Readers Choice Awards 2022 and it was ranked by people who travel freely while working remotely using technology and the Internet (“digital nomads,” that is) as the second-best city in the world for working holidays.
Bangkok offers many types of tourist attractions, such as religious sites, shopping destinations, food, and nightlife entertainment venues.
