International logistics plays an important role in international trade activities. Nowadays, international trade has expanded, because of trade liberalization. Policies have facilitated international trade by reducing customs duties and other trade barriers. However, those wishing to import or export goods across borders must strictly follow customs procedures.
Regarding import customs clearance by land, when a vehicle importing goods from a foreign country arrives at the land border checkpoint, the importer or agent is responsible for reporting vehicles entering and submission of goods accounts by land (Vehicle Manifest) (Form Sor Bor. 1) by submitting data electronically to the Thai Customs Electronic System.
When the Thai Customs Electronic System has verified the correctness, it will issue a control number. Then, the importer or agent presents this number to the Customs officer for inspection and to receive permission to take the vehicle to the Customs House. The next step is to proceed with the import declaration process.
If the importer or agent is unable to transmit data electronically, they may fill in the details of the vehicles entering and submit the goods accounts by land (Vehicle Manifest) according to the Land Customs 1 form. Then the importer or agent takes it to the Customs officer at the border checkpoint to inspect and input data into the Thai Customs Electronic System; the officer will issue a Received Control Number and grant permission to take the vehicle to the Customs House.
