Customs Clearance for Exportation by Sea Freight: e-Export

      Enterprises/ exporters who wish to export goods via sea freight must follow laws, regulations, and declarations of Thai Customs and related departments. Customs clearance for exportation by sea freight can be conveniently done via the e-Export system. The procedures are as follows:

1. Exporters/ Customs brokers submit Export Declaration and invoice to Customs through an electronic data interchange company. When the documents are verified, the Export Declaration number will be issued from the system. Then exporters pay custom tax (if applicable) and document fee via banks;

2. The shipping agent/ freight forwarder that is in charge of loading goods into the containers will be responsible for sending data to the Customs system. When the documents are verified, an Export Control code will be issued. The agent/ freight forwarder will print the Export Control form and take it, together with goods, to the port;

3. The Customs officer at the port will issue the Equipment Interchange Report (EIR) and record it in the system. The Export Declaration status will be checked, to determine whether it is “No inspection” (Green Line) or “Inspection” (Red Line);

4. Containers with Green Line status can be loaded into the vessel immediately;

5. As for containers with Red Line status, they must be opened for inspection of goods and checking of HS code and prices before they are loaded into the vessel.
