Osaka, Japan (April 24, 2025) – The Ministry of Public Health, through the Department of Health
Service Support, hosted the official opening ceremony of the Thailand Pavilion at EXPO 2025 OSAKA,
KANSAI, JAPAN.
The ceremony began with a traditional bathing ritual of the Buddha image to bring good fortune and
preserve Thai cultural heritage. Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, presided over the event,
joined by senior Thai officials and distinguished guests from various countries. The official opening was
marked by the symbolic planting of the celestial medicine pot, representing Thailand’s role as a global
health hub. The event also featured a special performance, “Maha Songkran: The rising Sun, which
resounds throughout the world” inspired by the Songkran Festival, which has been recognized by UNESCO
as an intangible cultural heritage.
Mr. Somsak Thepsuthin, Minister of Public Health, stated, “Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan is a

Thailand’s participation in Expo 2025 Osaka is led by the Ministry of Public Health, with the
Department of Health Service Support serving as the main organizing agency, in collaboration with strong
public and private sector partners. This event presents a valuable opportunity to promote investment in health and public health, while showcasing Thai identity to the global community. The Thailand Pavilion
aims to leave a lasting impression and position Thailand as a leading global health destination.
Since its opening day, the “Thailand Pavilion” has consistently drawn significant attention from both
Japanese and international visitors. The pavilion’s design combines traditional Thai art and architecture with
modern construction techniques. It stands out with its roof, inspired by the “Jom Hae” half-gable style, and
expansive glass walls that run the full length of the structure. This use of reflective surfaces creates the
illusion of complete Thai architecture, resulting in a sleek and modern style unlike any previous iteration.
The pavilion continues to attract considerable interest, with most visitors captivated by the exhibitions
inside, which highlight Thailand’s potential and innovations in healthcare, including:
1 World’s destination for healthcare and wellness : A photo spot invites visitors to share the
message “The Land of Good Food and Good Living” with the world. By scanning a QR code on the
exhibition board, visitors can activate an AR experience and pin their celebration at the Thailand Pavilion.
This serves as the first gateway to experiencing the essence of Thai-style living—an introduction to the land
of good food and good living.
10 Enchantments of Thailand : Access the Thai way of life through harmonious living with nature,
seasonal eating, and the charm of traditional culture—together with the iconic Siamese smile, a unique
identity warmly recognized around the world. These elements are brought to life through animation and
interactive media. Embark on a journey to discover the secrets of longevity in Thailand, a land rich in health
and well-being, through the immersive Wisdom of Life Immersive Theater. This new form of entertainment
showcases the beauty of nature, cultural traditions, medical excellence, and heartfelt service—all conveyed
with the smiles of the Thai people. Featuring a giant projection screen over five meters high and a cutting-
edge light and sound system, the experience offers a powerful virtual journey that nourishes both body and
mind—delivering holistic health care for the body and soul in a distinctly Thai way.
100 Potentialities of the Thai Public Health System : Projection mapping techniques are used
alongside more than 100 displayed objects around the room, showcasing Thailand’s strong public health
system, successful initiatives, and fruitful collaborations under the Thailand Medical Hub policy. Highlights
include the International Health Center project, cutting-edge research, and outstanding Thai medical
innovations such as AI technology for diabetic eye screening, rice flour-based hemostatic sponges,
agricultural-based products, 3D-printed bone replacements, and pencil-shaped robots designed to assist in
elderly care.
1,000 Medical Facilities : Presenting Thailand’s medical and service potential through an interactive
touch screen that allows access to information on treatment for 15 disease groups popular among medical
tourists. These treatments are offered at internationally accredited hospitals in Thailand. The display also
highlights health tourism options, including spas, wellness services, and various types of health promotion
services certified by the Thai World Class Spa standard, as well as natural tourist destinations in Thailand ideal for rest and recovery.
In this exhibition area, visitors can experience relaxation in the RHYTHM OF THAI NATURE THERAPY
room, which showcases Thai-style wellness based on the four elements of traditional Thai medicine. This
concept emphasizes prevention, health promotion, and the balance of body and mind, communicated
through serene natural scenery and soundscapes representing Thailand’s three seasons. Visitors are
immersed through multiple senses: the sight and sound of nature, soothing aromas, and the relaxing touch
of Thai massage—another major highlight that is very popular. The event featured a demonstration of Thai
massage by expert therapists, trained and skilled in treating seven groups of symptoms. Recognized by
UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage of the world, Thai massage represents one of Thailand’s key soft
powers. The exhibition also highlighted the wisdom of Thai traditional medicine, Thai massage, and herbal
products, offering visitors a deeper understanding of Thai health heritage.
