The Thai Government, through the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, has joined forces with over 100 tourism industry partners to launch the "Amazing Thailand Grand Sale 2026" campaign. Scheduled to run from June to August 2026, this strategic initiative aims to stimulate spending and travel among both short-haul and long-haul international tourists during the green season.
Ms. Ploytalay Laxameesangchan, Deputy Government Spokesperson, revealed that shopping and souvenirs consistently rank as the third-highest expenditure for foreign tourists, accounting for 15% to 20% of their total expenses—surpassed only by accommodation and food. Key high-spending markets include China, Singapore, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Australia, India, South Korea, and Hong Kong. To capture this demand, the 2026 campaign will roll out exclusive discounts and privileges across major hubs and emerging destinations, including Bangkok, Chonburi (Pattaya), Chiang Mai, Udon Thani, Phuket, and Songkhla (Hatyai).
Aligned with the "Unforgettable Experience" campaign, this year's initiative places a heavy emphasis on promoting Thai cultural charm through local brands and home-grown designers. The shopping experiences will feature premium yet accessible collections spanning contemporary Thai fashion, artisanal crafts, jewelry, and eco-friendly products made from recycled materials.
Ms. Ploytalay highlighted the success of the 2025 edition, which generated over 700 million Baht in circulating revenue, achieved a 92.92% satisfaction rate, and saw a 98.67% recommendation rate among participants. The top five nationalities taking part in last year's campaign were from Malaysia, Singapore, the United States, China, and India. The government is currently inviting more tourism business operators to join the 2026 platform to offer exclusive promotions and collectively drive mid-year economic growth.
