RU Suvarnabhumi: Thailand's first moral university 

     Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi (RUS) was selected by the Moral Promotion Sub-Committee in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province as an outstanding model organization of the province, which was awarded by the National Moral Promotion Sub-Committee, under the Ministry of Culture.

     Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi recognizes the value and importance of ethics and morality, which are considered key factors in building good individuals for society and the nation. The university emphasizes promoting the potential development of administrators, professors, staff, and students to possess desirable characteristics through participation in driving the "Moral University" movement. This is aimed at developing themselves, their teams, and organizations by adhering to the principles of ethics, morality, and Buddhist principles appropriate to the current situation in order to achieve sustainable success and promote morality at the university.

     RUS has utilized the model of the moral university, which has been in operation since 2018. The important principles of this model consist of doing everything, doing them from top to bottom, doing things continuously, and doing things collaboratively. With the morality project "Problems to Solve, Good to Do" through to the "Explosion from Within" process, this has been efficiently accomplished.

     The driving force of a moral university has received good cooperation from the university's management, department heads, and all personnel, resulting in the emergence of good behavioral changes that have made the organization a moral organization. As a result, RUS was selected as an outstanding prototype moral organization in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province.

The progress of the "Moral University" driving program in phase 1 has six steps:

• Establishing awareness and acceptance;
• Creating teachers, staff, and leading personnel by gathering opinions from all parties, from administrators to employees;
• Setting the university's moral identity, which includes responsibility, discipline, politeness, and kindness;
• Defining methods to achieve the university's moral identity;
• Taking action to achieve change goals;
• Creating a mechanism to drive the university.

     As a result of driving the program in phase 1, RUS received a certificate of recognition as a model moral organization and moral community at the provincial level. The university also signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in driving the province of Ayutthaya as a province of morals.

For the second phase of the program, the plan was improved to be more efficient. The project's model and activities were defined as follows:

• Changing the university's moral identity to "self-sufficient, disciplined, honest, and volunteer" to align with the evaluation of the moral organization according to the assessment model of the 1st National Moral Promotion Master Plan of the Ministry of Culture;
• Developing a model for creating awareness of the ethical identity, public relations, and various media to make it widely known;
• Improving the operation plan by focusing more on the principle of participation;
• Developing personnel by sending them to training as speakers promoting morality and using the knowledge gained from the Center for Morality Promotion, Public Organization, to apply knowledge to drive the moral university efficiently;
• Organizing a training program for speakers to promote morality at RUS to develop personnel in each department to become leaders in promoting morality;
• Understanding the intentions, principles, processes, and methods of promoting and developing moral organizations within the department;
• Driving the university from within the department with representatives who have completed the training program for speakers promoting morality, as the core leader in operations, in conjunction with promoting the values of RUS;
• Announcing the moral pledge as a guideline for behavior, which all departments have agreed to and signed together;
• Presenting best practices, together with tracking performance based on the principle of "we will walk together" by selecting good moral project models to present, and inviting qualified individuals to provide suggestions to improve the process.
