Thammasat University Develops Integrated Chinese Medicine Clinic Model

Thammasat University has launched an integrated Chinese Medicine Clinic through a collaboration between the Chulabhorn International College of Medicine (CICM) and Thammasat University Hospital. The clinic aims to serve as a model for integrative healthcare by combining Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), modern medical practices, and academic research. The initiative reflects growing interest in holistic healthcare approaches, particularly for chronic illnesses, stress-related conditions, sleep disorders, and musculoskeletal problems.

Traditional Chinese Medicine plays an important role in treating conditions such as muscle pain, office syndrome, and insomnia. For patients with complex diseases, including cancer, stroke, and neurological disorders, therapies such as acupuncture can complement conventional treatment by helping reduce pain, support rehabilitation, and improve quality of life. Beyond patient care, the clinic also functions as a training center for students, a research hub, and a platform for international academic collaboration.

The clinic is supported by CICM’s dual-degree Bachelor of Chinese Medicine program, developed in partnership with a leading Chinese university specializing in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The program is the first and only dual-degree Chinese Medicine curriculum in Thailand taught entirely in English and Chinese. Looking ahead, the clinic plans to expand specialized services, strengthen research that integrates Chinese Medicine with modern medical science, and foster international partnerships to advance the sustainable development of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Thailand.
