U-Tapao International Airport to Commence Full Operations in 2029

Prepare yourself for a more comfortable and modern travel experience, as U-Tapao International Airport is set to open for full operations in 2029.  The goal is to establish “U-Tapao” as Thailand's third major international airport.

What makes U-Tapao Airport special?

  • Seamless connectivity: The airport will function as a central transportation hub, linked by high-speed rail and an extensive network of land, water, and air transport, making travel to the airport more convenient and faster.
  • Business and tourism hub: The airport will be a key driver of the economic growth in the Eastern region, serving as a hub of aviation, logistics, and tourism.
  • Future growth capacity: Designed to accommodate future increases in air travel, the airport is expected to have the capacity to handle up to 60 million passengers annually.
  • Business opportunities: The development of the airport is expected to create business opportunities for both local and international private sectors, promoting investment in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) area.

Why develop U-Tapao Airport?

As Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang Airports approach their passenger capacity limits,  the full operation of  U-Tapao International Airport will serve to ease air traffic congestion and efficiently accommodate the future growth of the aviation industry. Moreover, it will stimulate the country's economy and enhance the quality of life for local people.

The development of U-Tapao International Airport development project is crucial for elevating Thailand as the aviation and logistics hub of the ASEAN region. The future operation of the airport will unlock new opportunities in the economic, social, and tourism sectors.
