Nature Tourism – Visiting “Catapult Forest Planting,” Pha Keb Tawan (Keb Tawan Cliff), Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Pha Keb Tawan (Keb Tawan Cliff), one of the nature tourism features of Wang Num Khiao, is situated in Thap Lan National Park, Thai Samakkhae Subdistrict, Wang Nam Khiao, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This area has a plentiful array of hundred-year-old trees. It is one of the most beautiful scenic viewpoints of Thap Lan National Park; visitors can see the sunset glowing all over its panoramic scenery. Moreover, in the rainy season, people love to see lots of fog in the mornings.

Pha Keb Tawan has many activities for every taste, such as planting trees using catapults, or slingshots, to shoot a wide variety of tree seeds into the forest, such as black rosewood seeds (Pod mahogany seeds) and Corypha lecomtei (Lan palm) seeds. When you shoot all your seeds and they fall somewhere deep in the forest, you can hope that they will all grow up to be big, strong trees. This way, apart from simply traveling, you are doing something that will preserve nature, too.

For tourists who would like to have a night camping, Pha Keb Tawan provides areas for camping; tents are available, too, so tourists are able to sleep at night, watch the beautiful stars, and see the glorious sunrise in the early morning. Restrooms, bathrooms, and stores are also there to serve all visitors. However, there is a fee for visiting the Phu Thap Lan National Park: adults – 20 baht, and children – 10 baht each. This national park opens daily from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
