Inspection of foreign nationals using border passes at the Thailand-Myanmar border crossing

     When traveling in and out of Thailand, foreign nationals residing in Myanmar or Thai citizens who wish to travel to Myanmar must have a border pass to present to the border officials. There are two types of border passes between Thailand and Myanmar:

     1. Border Pass: This type of pass is for individuals who reside in border areas, and is valid for up to 2 years with the possibility of renewal for another 2 years;
     2. Temporary Border Pass: This pass is for individuals who do not reside in border areas, and is valid only for a single entry.

Inspection steps

  1. Verify the accuracy and completeness of the border pass or temporary border pass;
  2. Verify if the holder of the pass is authorized;
  3. Record the information of the pass holder who enters or exits;
  4. Verify the stamp on the back of the border pass authorizing the holder to reside within the district. Regular border passes are valid for a period of 2 weeks, while temporary border passes are valid for a maximum of 1 week per entry.
