The railway route connecting Thailand and the Lao PDR has been opened to enhance logistics, trade, and tourism.
Now Open for Service! The passenger train between Thailand and the Lao PDR runs from Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal to Vientiane. Travel is now easier, and cargo transportation is more convenient. The first train started operating on July 19, 2024.
Not only will the Thailand-Laos Railway make travel between the two nations more convenient, but it’s also poised to invigorate cross-border trade and boost economic ties. Thailand's tourism will become a major global tourism hub! The train picks up passengers from Udon Thani Airport and goes directly to Vientiane Capital without the hassle of changing trains.
Interested passengers can purchase tickets at train stations nationwide. Services include third-class regular trains, second-class air-conditioned trains, and second-class air-conditioned sleeping cars, with a total of 4 trips per day. Whether traveling for business or leisure, this train service will make your journey easier and more comfortable.
