Booming Marine Tourism Business! Here’s How to Navigate Yacht Entry and Exit in Thai Waters

Bringing a Yacht into Thailand

  • The captain must report the yacht’s entry to customs officers within 24 hours after the yacht arrives at port.
  • Documents Required:
    • Yacht Entry Report (Form 372)
    • Registration Certificate
    • Passport
    • Other documents, such as Port Clearance from the last port and photographs of the yacht
  • If the owner is not aboard the yacht, a power of attorney is required
  • Customs will record the information in the system and issue a special cargo declaration.

Taking a Yacht out of Thailand

  • The captain must report the yacht’s departure and submit the Yacht Departure Declaration (Form 373), along with a request for Port Clearance (Form 378).
  • Documents Required:
    • Original special cargo declaration
    • Passport
    • Other documents (if applicable)
  • Customs will update the system to close the account and retain control documents.

Requesting an Extension/Insurance Renewal

  • Submit a request for extension to customs before the insurance contract expires.
  • Extensions can be granted for up to 2 years and 6 months.
