Retirement visa documents for foreigners who want to stay in Thailand for one year

       For Non-Immigrant Visa “O-A” (Long Stay), or a retirement visa, that is issued to applicants who are 50 years of age or older and wish to stay in Thailand for a period of not more than one year, the following documents are required:  

1. Passport valid for not less than 18 months;

2. Visa application form with photo and personal history form, three sets (obtain the form from the embassy or consulate);

3. Financial evidence, such as a copy of a bank statement with an amount equivalent to Thai currency of not less than 800,000 baht, or a letter certifying income or a pension (original) of not less than 65,000 baht per month, or having a deposit account and income or pension (per month x 12) totaling not less than 800,000 baht (in case of showing a copy of a deposit account, the original bank certificate is also required);

4. Police report showing no criminal record from their country of citizenship or from their country of residence (the certificate is valid for no more than 3 months); 

5. Medical certificate from the country where the request was filed proving that the applicant has no prohibited disease under the Ministerial Regulation No. 14, 1992 (the certificate is valid for no more than 3 months); 

6. In the case of wishing to bring a spouse to live in the Kingdom, but the spouse is not qualified to apply for a type of "O-A" (Long Stay) visa, evidence of the marriage certificate must be presented. In this regard, the spouse will be considered for a non-immigrant visa, code "O," and may stay for 3 months;

7. Copy of proof of having health insurance (as determined by the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC)) and a copy of a Thai or foreign health insurance policy document, or the applicant must have government welfare or other collateral with the sum insured for the cost of general medical treatment, including Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), not less than 3,000,000 baht in total.
