Seven cases in which foreign workers are protected while working in Thailand: Social security

       Foreign workers who come to work in Thailand will be protected by basic human rights and principles, as Thais are covered. But foreign workers must be legally registered in the social security system.

 After that, seven situations will be protected, as follows

  1. Childbirth; 
  2. Child support;  
  3. Illness or danger from work; 
  4. Disability; 
  5. Old age; 
  6. Unemployment;  
  7. Death.

       In this regard, the conditions and protection of foreign workers will cover those who come to work legally or are workers with passports or passport representations and work permits, as well as foreign workers who have received a waiver to stay and work temporarily, including groups of workers who have verified their nationality with their country of origin. All of these must be verified with nationality with a temporary passport or certificate of identity and work permit.

       The documents required for registration of foreign employees, aliens, and hilltribe members is the insurer registration Sor.Por.Sor.1-03., copy of passport or a document showing a passport representation, a copy of a work permit, or a copy of a special non-immigrant visa (Smart Visa).        As for the termination of the contract, the employer must notify the employee one month in advance or pay one month's wages instead of terminating the contract or in accordance with Thai labor law.  Including the employer must pay for the return trip to the country of the employee. If the employee wishes to terminate the contract, the employee must notify the employer one month in advance and must pay for the return trip by himself/herself.

       However, if there is a natural disaster, riot, armed conflict or war, and if circumstances do not allow continuing work, the employer must evacuate the employee to a safe place and repatriate the employee at full expense of the employer.
