e-Commerce Registration Process

     Today, trading products or services through online channels, known as e-commerce, creates much economic value, and the trend is growing continually. Therefore, to carry out the business properly, and to assure customers of the business’s reliability, it must also be registered as an e-commerce business.  

     An e-commerce venture must be registered as a commercial entity, whether it is a natural person or juristic person whose business is located in Thailand. The following are some examples:

  1. Trade products/ services using electronic media via the Internet (including websites in e-marketplace and social media applications);
  2. Internet service provider (ISP);
  3. Renting space for the server computer (web hosting);
  4. To serve as a marketplace for e-marketplace trading.  

     Commercial registration is required within 30 days of the commencement of commercial operations.

     Commercial registration can be done almost anywhere in the country.

     If you are located in Bangkok, you can apply for a commercial registration at the Administrative Department of the District Office in 50 districts, depending on the location of the establishment or the Office of the Treasury Economy, the Treasury Office, and the Bangkok City Hall.  

     If you are located in a province other than Bangkok, you may apply for commercial registration at the municipality or district administration organization in your area, or in the city of Pattaya, based on the establishment's location.


Electronic commerce registration documents

  • For a natural person: copy of identification card and house registration of a commercial entrepreneur;
  • For juristic persons: certificate of registration of partnership or company, copy of identification card, and house registration of authorized person;
  • Power of attorney with 10 baht stamp duty and a copy of the ID card of the authorized person (in case of power of attorney);


In cases in which the commercial operator is not the host, additional documents are needed:

  • Letter of consent for use of the premises or lease agreement and link of letter of consent for use of the premises or lease agreement;
  • Copy of the ID card of the owner of the premises, along with a copy of house registration or other proprietary documents;
  • Commercial registration application form;
  • Electronic commerce registration document (attachment form);
  • Print information that is seen by the customers, about merchandise, payment, etc.: online shop merchandise / service merchandising homepage / how to order merchandise / service payment methods / shipping methods;
  • Draw a map of the commercial establishment’s location.


Attach additional documents for a foreign juristic person who has set up a branch in Thailand:

  • Copy of juristic person registration document;
  • Letter of Appointment of Operators in Thailand;
  • Work permit (in case the operator is an alien);
  • Foreign business license or certificate of exercise (if any).


Fee rate

  • Commercial registration, 50 baht per request;
  • Registration change, 20 baht per request;
  • Registration cancellation, 20 baht per request.
