The authorized channels for immigration checkpoints that can issue a visa on arrival (VOA)
If foreign tourists plan to visit Thailand for only a short period of time or wish to continue their journey to a country adjacent to Thailand, they can use the “visa on arrival” (VOA) privilege at the authorized immigration checkpoints. Thailand has 48 such checkpoints:
Those who wish to apply for visa on arrival must be a national holding a valid passport or travel document that is recognized by the country that has an agreement with Thailand to waive the need for the inspection of the diplomatic, official, or ordinary passport of the traveler (consisting of a total of 18 countries and 1 economic zone).
Please note that the authority to grant entry into Thailand and to determine the length of stay in the country lies with the immigration officer. Therefore, some foreign nationals who have obtained a visa may be denied entry into the country if the immigration officer determines that the individual has characteristics or behaviors that would make him or her a prohibited person under the Immigration Act of 1979 (B.E. 2522).
