The authorized channels for immigration checkpoints that can issue a visa on arrival (VOA) 

     If foreign tourists plan to visit Thailand for only a short period of time or wish to continue their journey to a country adjacent to Thailand, they can use the “visa on arrival” (VOA) privilege at the authorized immigration checkpoints. Thailand has 48 such checkpoints:

  1. Krabi, in the deep seaport area of Krabi, the Chao Fa Pier area, the Koh Landa Pier area, and Krabi Airport area;
  2. Kanchanaburi, on the overland transportation route from the border to Kanchanaburi;
  3. Khlong Yai;
  4. Khuan Don;
  5. Chiang Khong;
  6. Chiang Saen;
  7. Tak, in the airport area, Sukhothai;
  8. Tak, on the overland transportation route from the border to Tak;
  9. Tak Bai;
  10. Bangkok Port;
  11. Songkhla Port, in the deep seaport area of Songkhla and the Thai Pier area;
  12. Tha Li;
  13. Bangkok Airport;
  14. Chiang Rai Airport;
  15. Chiang Mai Airport;
  16. Trang Airport;
  17. Phuket Airport;
  18. Surat Thani Airport;
  19. Suvarnabhumi Airport;
  20. Hat Yai Airport;
  21. U-Tapao Airport;
  22. Nakhon Phanom, on the overland transportation route from the border to Nakhon Phanom;
  23. Nan, on the overland transportation route from the border to Nan;
  24. Ban Pakob;
  25. Bueng Kan;
  26. Bu Ka Ta;
  27. Betong;
  28. Prachuap Khiri Khan, at the airport in Hua Hin;
  29. Padang Besar;
  30. Pong Nam Ron;
  31. Pattaya, at the port of Sattahip;
  32. Phibun Mangsahan, on the overland transportation route from the border to Phibun Mangsahan;
  33. Phuket, at the docks of Makham Bay and Chalong Bay;
  34. Phu Sing, on the overland transportation route from the border to Phu Sing;
  35. Mab Ta Phut, at the port of Mab Ta Phut and on the docks of Na Mueng Bay in Rayong Province;
  36. Mukdahan;
  37. Mae Sai;
  38. Si Racha, on the docks of Udom Bay and at the port of Laem Chabang;
  39. Satun, at the docking location near Koh Lipe;
  40. Satun, on the docks of Tamalang Customs Station and on the docks of Je Bi Lang;
  41. Samut Prakan;
  42. Koh Samui at the docking location in front of Na Thon Bay;
  43. Koh Samui at the area of the airport on Koh Samui Island;
  44. Sadao;
  45. Sungai Kolok;
  46. Nong Khai at the area of the port on the banks of the Mekong River; 
  47. Nong Khai on the overland transportation route from the border to the location of Nong Khai;
  48. Aranyaprathet.

     Those who wish to apply for visa on arrival must be a national holding a valid passport or travel document that is recognized by the country that has an agreement with Thailand to waive the need for the inspection of the diplomatic, official, or ordinary passport of the traveler (consisting of a total of 18 countries and 1 economic zone). 

Please note that the authority to grant entry into Thailand and to determine the length of stay in the country lies with the immigration officer. Therefore, some foreign nationals who have obtained a visa may be denied entry into the country if the immigration officer determines that the individual has characteristics or behaviors that would make him or her a prohibited person under the Immigration Act of 1979 (B.E. 2522).
