Foreigners who reside in Thailand must comply with the regulations of the Alien Registration Act. If ignored, it is punishable by law. Guidelines for foreigners residing in Thailand are as follows:
Apply for an alien certificate within 7 days from the date of permission to enter the country or the date of turning 12 years of age;
A foreigner whose nationality, first name, or last name has changed must notify the registrar within 7 days;
In case of the foreigner’s death, the host must notify the registrar within 24 hours;
In case of an expired identity certificate, the foreigner must contact the registrar within 7 days;
The foreigner must carry his/her alien certificate at all times;
Relocation of domicile must be reported within 30 days;
If the alien certificate is damaged or lost, the foreigner must apply for a substitute within 7 days.
Penalties
Failure to comply with items 1 or 4: a fine not exceeding 500 baht;
Failure to comply with items 2, 3, 5, 6, or 7: a fine not exceeding 1,000 baht;
According to the Immigration Act 1979, in Section 4, the definition of “a person in charge of conveyance" means a ship's master or person responsible for supervising a vehicle
For foreigners wishing to extend their stay in Thailand, in the case of being family members of a Thai national (only parents, spouses, children, adopted children, or children of spouses), the Immigration Office has determined the requirements, as follows
