In recent years, the Thai language has become increasingly popular among foreigners, largely due to the influence of Thai series and dramas, as well as foreign influencers who use Thai to communicate with their followers. This has inspired many people to want to learn and understand the Thai language more.
Assistant Professor Dr. Isaret Donphen from Khon Kaen University revealed that foreigners are becoming more interested in learning Thai, both at the basic and academic levels. It is not just for work or business purposes but also for understanding Thai culture and creating new opportunities, such as teaching Thai abroad. For example, Chinese students who study Thai intend to become teachers in their home country, as the popularity of the Thai language continues to grow.
This trend reflects the rise of the Thai language as a global soft power, making it not only a communication tool but also a career opportunity and a means of cultural connection.
