The Cabinet has given the green light! The development of facilities in electric trains, airports, and various public transportation services is now underway to ensure that people with disabilities have equal, safe, and convenient access to and use of these services. This is an important step towards enabling people with disabilities to travel and live fully and with quality.
Under the new ministerial regulations recently approved by the Cabinet, standards for facilities will be improved and developed in various places, such as doors designed for wheelchair access, audio and visual signals in trains, accessible toilets, and sleeping areas for people with disabilities on passenger boats, as well as services that cater to the specific needs of people with disabilities at transport stations. All types of transport operators must be prepared to upgrade their facilities in line with the new standards to ensure that people with disabilities can use these services on an equal footing with everyone else.
These measures will help people with disabilities have more opportunities to travel and live more easily, while also enhancing the quality of Thailand's public transportation, making it modern and accessible to all groups in society.
