Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand, accompanied by His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Her Majesty Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan, attended a Buddhist chanting ceremony at the Buddha Dordenma statue in Bhutan on Saturday (April 26). During the ceremony, where 74 monks from each country conducted prayers for blessings, Their Majesties presented a relic of the Lord Buddha to the King and Queen of Bhutan for permanent enshrinement at the site as a symbol of friendship between the two nations.
Later in the day, Their Majesties traveled by royal motorcade to the Dechencholing Royal Project, a development initiative supported through cooperation between the Royal Project Foundation of Thailand and agencies in Bhutan.
At Dechencholing, Their Majesties viewed exhibitions showcasing local development programs, including the De-suung Project and the One Gewog One Product (OGOP) Program, both of which promote sustainable economic development and community-driven growth.
The visit forms part of Their Majesties' official trip to Bhutan, reflecting the deep cultural and diplomatic ties between the two countries, anchored in a shared devotion to Buddhism and mutual development goals.
Their Majesties are continuing their official engagements in Bhutan through April 28, further strengthening cooperation between the two kingdoms.
