The “petty patent” is an important document issued by the state to protect inventions that are similar to the invention but are not highly developed in terms of technological advancement or are minor inventions that are more useful; it includes methods of production, preservation, or improvement of the product quality, or the creation of new products that differ from existing ones. Examples include the mechanism of a machine, medicines, methods for preserving vegetables and fruits to prevent them from spoiling too quickly, etc.

The registration of a petty patent application will take approximately 8 months and 21 days to process, depending on several factors, such as the completeness and accuracy of the documentation, the examination by the examiner, the time taken by the applicant to respond to requests for amendments or clarifications, and the internal procedures of the Department of Intellectual Property.
