Suspension and revocation of license for business in a Free Zone

License suspension
     If a Free Zone licensee breaks the rules and regulations of the Customs Department, the Director of Customs shall give notice to the licensee. If the licensee continues to violate the rules, the Director of Customs is empowered to suspend the license. Licensees whose license is suspended must stop all activities until gaining permission to resume.
     If any damage is consequently caused by a licensee violating any rules, Customs is empowered to revoke the license or take any appropriate actions to remedy the damages. The revocation shall take effect within 15 days from the date of receiving the notice of revocation.
License revocation
     The Director of Customs is empowered to revoke the license in the following cases:

  1. If activities do not start within 90 days after approval, or activities stop for a continuous period over 180 days without legal notification;
  2. If the license is suspended more than two times;
  3. If the licensee violates or breaks the rules regarding the suspension period;
  4. If the annual fee is not paid by a set date.

     As a result of revocation, any tax privileges shall be terminated and duties must be paid on the date of revocation. Duties are calculated by condition, tax value, and HS code stated on the date of revocation.
