Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has launched the Digital Asset Regulatory Sandbox, a groundbreaking initiative designed to provide businesses and entrepreneurs in the digital asset sector with a secure environment to test new innovations before their official launch. Supported by government agencies, this program ensures that all testing phases are conducted safely and with confidence.
Currently, seven companies are participating in the sandbox, including SCB 10X, which is testing a Tourist Wallet. This service enables foreign tourists to exchange cryptocurrency for use within Thailand, in collaboration with the Bank of Thailand’s (BOT) initiatives.
The sandbox aims to reduce business risks by allowing companies to trial new technologies under controlled conditions. It also helps refine systems for market readiness while creating opportunities for business expansion and boosting investor confidence.
