Multinational companies flock to set up regional offices in Thailand

The Board of Investment (BOI) has opened an online facilitation channel for the comprehensive regional office business (HQ Biz Portal), in collaboration with the Revenue Department, the Department of Business Development, and the Bank of Thailand (BOT). The portal is a data center related to the establishment of regional offices and online appointment systems, as well as establishing a joint team to facilitate entrepreneurs interested in establishing regional offices in Thailand.

Regional offices are considered a high-value-added business that creates quality jobs and opportunities to expand the investment of other businesses. Having regional offices will strengthen Thailand's prominence as a business center of the region. It is also a good time to attract more leading companies worldwide to set up regional offices in Thailand.

BOI has been promoting investment in regional offices in Thailand since 2000. As a result, there are more than 500 projects, with a total investment value of over 13 billion baht. Japanese companies have the highest proportion of investment promotion projects, followed by the United States, Singapore, and Hong Kong.

The top three promoted industries are automotive, machinery, and electrical and electronic equipment.

Many leading multinational companies have already established regional offices in Thailand, such as Agoda, Huawei, Arçelik Hitachi, Ajinomoto, Nissin Foods, Alstom, Toyota Motor, Nippon Steel, and more.
