The purpose of patent registration is to provide legal protection for inventions that are in use or are beneficial. Those who wish to register a patent must prepare documents as prescribed by the Department of Intellectual Property, along with meeting the criteria and conditions of the patent application process. The next important step is the patent application. The applicant must include the following details in the application:
- Application Form [Form Sor Por/Sor Phor/Oor Sor Por/001-A]
- Invention Details: The applicant must provide comprehensive, concise, and clear information that allows an ordinary practitioner in the relevant art or science to make and use the invention, as follows:
- The name representing the invention.
- Specify the relevant field of science relating to the invention.
- Background of the art or science, which aids in understanding the invention and is useful for verification. Relevant documents should also be provided, if any.
- Explain the characteristics and objectives of the invention.
- Fully disclose the invention.
- Provide brief explanations of each drawing, if any.
- The best method of implementing the invention.
- Claims: Must specify the features of the invention that the applicant wishes to protect in a comprehensive, concise, and clear manner. These must also align with the details of the invention.
- Drawings (if any): These must be clear, align with the invention details, and comply with the principles of technical drawing. This also includes diagrams and plans.
- Invention Summary: The summary must encapsulate the essence of the disclosed or demonstrated invention, claims, and drawings (if any). This should briefly specify the technical features related to the invention but in a manner that provides better understanding of the technical problem, its solution, and the application of the invention.
- Other items as specified by Ministerial Regulation No. 21.
- Supporting documents for the application, as specified in Clause 14 of [Form Sor Por/Sor Phor/Oor Sor Por/001-A].
