The purpose of petty patent registration is to legally protect and safeguard useful inventions or processes from unauthorized exploitation by others. Once a registrant has prepared all necessary documents and met all the criteria and conditions, the patent application should include the following details:
- Patent Application Form [Form SP/SP/OSP/001-A]
- Detailed Description of the Invention: This must be a comprehensive, concise, and clear narrative that a person reasonably skilled in the relevant art or science can understand and replicate. This includes:
- A title representing the invention
- Specification of the scientific field relevant to the invention
- Background of the art or science related to the invention, to aid understanding and facilitate examination, including relevant documentation if any
- Description of the characteristics and purpose of the invention
- Full disclosure of the invention
- Brief description of each drawing, if any
- The best method for carrying out the invention
- Claims: These must specify the aspects of the invention for which patent protection is sought, in a comprehensive, concise, and clear manner, and must be consistent with the detailed description of the invention
- Drawings (if any): These must be clear, consistent with the detailed description of the invention, and adhere to the principles of scientific drawing, including diagrams and charts
- Summary of the Invention: This must summarize the essence of the invention as disclosed or represented in the detailed description, claims, and drawings (if any). It should identify the technical features related to the invention briefly but in a way that enhances understanding of the technical problem, the solution provided by the invention, and its application
- Other items as specified by Ministerial Regulation No. 21
- Accompanying Documents for the Application as specified in Item 14 of [Form SP/SP/OSP/001-A]
