Sending children to international schools has been popular for many years in Thailand, as most parents wish their children to be multilingual. Therefore, foreign teachers are in demand in Thailand’s education market. Educational personnel in private institutions who wish to extend their visas to extend their period of work in Thailand may proceed with the following details.
Requirements
1. They must hold a Non-Immigrant Visa;
2. The educational institution must be one with a license to operate granted by the relevant public agencies;
3. The application must be approved and supported by the educational institution;
4. In the case of educational personnel, they must have qualifications or experiences corresponding to their duties, and they may not make up more than 10 percent of the number of teachers or lecturers in that educational institution.
Required supporting documents categorized by educational institutions
Formal schools: general education schools, English Program schools, vocational schools using the Ministry of Education curriculum, and international schools
1. TM.7 Form;
2. Copy of the applicant's passport;
3. Copy of the work permit;
4. Confirmation letter from the educational institution with the position, salary rate, and duration of employment, and copy of the teacher appointment letter according to the form specified by the Office of the Private Education Commission (OPEC);
5. Copy of the professional teaching license or copy of the certificate from the Teachers Council of Thailand, or copy of the letter of waiver from the Teachers Council of Thailand, or copy of the letter requesting a waiver from the Teachers Council of Thailand.
In the case of non-formal schools:
1. TM.7 Form;
2. Copy of the applicant's passport;
3. Copy of the work permit;
4. Copy of license to establish an educational institution, granted by the relevant public agencies;
5. Confirmation letter from the educational institution with the position, salary rate, and duration of employment;
6. Copy of the teacher/ instructor appointment letter according to the form specified by the OPEC.
In the case of private higher education institutions:
1. TM.7 Form;
2. Copy of the applicant's passport;
3. Copy of the work permit;
4. Copy of license to establish an educational institution, granted by the relevant public agencies;
5. Confirmation letter from the educational institution with the position, salary rate, and duration of employment.
In the case of educational personnel:
1. TM.7 Form;
2. Copy of the applicant's passport;
3. Copy of the work permit;
4. Copy of academic qualifications;
5. Copy of transcript showing the qualifications for his or her position, or a certificate of work experience showing the qualifications and competency for his or her position from the relevant agency;
6. Copy of the withholding tax return with the name of the last foreign applicant with receipt;
7. Alien certificate showing the necessity of applying for an extension of stay from an educational institution;
8. Details of the number of teachers, professors, and educational personnel of Thai nationality and foreigners;
9. Employment contract;
10. Copy of license to establish an educational institution;
11. Certificate from the Office of the Private Education Commission.
