Songkhla Lake Lifestyle Tourism Route

Songkhla Lake.

Songkhla Lake is the largest natural water source in Thailand. An area is about 1,040 square kilometers or about 616,750 rai. There are many rivers originating from the Banthat mountain range flowing through the plains into the lake.

From the geography of the Songkhla Lake watershed area, which includes forests, lowlands, and coastal areas, communities can be divided into three characteristics: the first group is the coastal plain community or popularly called in the local language as “Hom Le”. Their occupation is fishing, farming, trading. The second group is located in the middle plains, a wide field called “Hom Tong”, a flat area interspersed with limestone mountains and high hills or Kuan and the third group is the group that lives in the foothills of Khao Banthat in the west, called “Hom Nua”.

The Songkhla Lake way of life tour is well-liked by conservationists who come to learn about and experience the way of life of the local community house due to the culture and wisdom of the people expressed in various ways, as well as the effect of geography and the environment. One thing that is often mentioned in rhyming words until it is the highlight of each area, for example, “Sa Lei makes pots, Ko Yor makes basins, Hua Khao Phong Phang, Bo Yang Khai Khoei (Kapi)” as Phatthalung mentions the outstanding occupations of the community is “Numjeen Tamnan (Legendary Rice Noodles), Ban Rae Sugar, Tha Khae Betel, Lampam Fish”. The messages in these expressions are like OTOP products today, which are well accepted in the wisdom and expression of the community’s culture. These are undoubtedly unique things that attract tourists to visit and experience the way of life of the local people.
