Development of academic services and medical researches according to Thailand Medical Hub guidelines.

Thailand has been trusted and recognized by foreigners as an international medical hub.      

                Thailand has been trusted and recognized by foreigners as an international medical hub and is ranked 5th in the world for Global Health Security Index (GHS) out of 195 countries and is ranked 1st in Asia according to the assessment of country readiness to cope with communicable diseases in 2021 by Johns Hopkins University, the United States. In addiotn, Thailand is ranked 1st in the world for Wellness Retreats according to TripAdvisor and Slingo, the popular sites among travelers.

                 The main factors that make Thailand gain credibility and acceptance among foreigners are reasonable price, quality services that meet the international standard, having personnel with specific expertise, modern technology, good-natured hospitality and beautiful tourist attractions. These factors make Thailand the Medical Hub, which is one of the key mechanisms used by the government in driving the country’s economy since 2015.

In the strategic plan to develop Thailand into Medical Hub (2017-2026), the key elements in pushing Thailand towards becoming the Medical Hub are identified as follows.

 1. Wellness Hub: a hub for health promotion services

 2. Medical Service Hub: a hub for medical service 

 3. Academic Hub: a hub for academic services and research

 4. Product Hub: a hub for medicines and health products

                   The strategies for the development of Academic Hub include management of professional and post graduate, specifying fields and production capacity at post graduate level for the fields specified in the strategies in order to meet the needs and reduce the disparity according to the service plan of the country; developing the Affiliated Private Training system by pushing the private sector to participate in teaching and learning together with the public sector as a channel to use the potential of private hospitals and experts in the private sector who are medically competent and are internationally recognized; education for skilled labor including the production of therapists, the production of care workers and the production of practitioners in Thai traditional and alternative medicine; and organizing the international conference (MICE).

          The objectives and goals are as follows.

- To develop and promote educational institutions to have academic excellence at the international level in order to make Thailand a world-class leader in medical education and other health care sciences;
- To encourage the production of doctors and medical personnel, including personnel in the health promotion service business, to be sufficient for the population and meet the needs of the country, as well as meeting the quality standards set by the Federation of Professions;
- To support the integration between the federals of professions;
- To promote and support organizations/associations/royal colleges, federals of professions and related authorities to become members of international organizations. This is to obtain the right to participate in bidding and hosting the World Congress together with Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau Promote (Public Organization) in order to elevate Thailand as the of international medical conferences and exhibitions (MICE).
