Development of health promotion services to support Thailand Medical Hub.

The development of health promotion services to push Thailand.

The development of health promotion services to push Thailand towards becoming Thailand Medical Hub is one of the strategic plans to become Thailand Medical Hub through the promotion and development of 3 types of health establishments which are health massage, health spa and massage for beauty purposes to be certified for quality and standards as required by law. Currently, there are a total of 2,380 certified health establishments in Thailand.

Along with the promotion and development of Thai massage personnel in terms of health promotion services to meet the international quality standards in order to support the US market, a 600-hour advanced Thai massage course for health is established according to CAMTC. This is in order for personnel to be fully qualified to take the MBLex exam/obtain a license in CMT and be able to work in Thailand. There is also an additional training course from the normal course of less than 600 hours organized in collaboration with CAMTC for improving skills according to specific courses. In addition, it is required that there must be Approved Schools (phase 2) in the United States with accreditation system for foreign establishments that meet the international standards. This is achieved by establishing a federation and making Thailand the coordination center for Thai spa and Thai massage.

For quality certification and accreditation of health establishments of Thai entrepreneurs operating in foreign countries, and from the previous audits of health establishments in foreign countries, it appears that a total of 15 health establishments that passed the assessment criteria and received the standard quality certification symbol from the Department of Health Service Support. Of these 15 health establishments, 7 establishments are in Germany, 2 establishments are in Austria and 6 establishments are in Switzerland.

In addition to massage, hot springs in Thailand have good health properties. The Department of Medical Sciences, Ministry of Public Health has analyzed the mineral composition and properties of hot spring water for health benefits and found that water obtained from hot springs has positive effects on health as hot springs flowing from underground to the surface. Therefore, hot spring water have positive effects on health and can relieve some symptoms that are the causes of some diseases.

According to the survey of the Ministry of Nature and Environment, Thailand currently has 112 natural hot springs across all regions with surface temperatures in the range of 40-100 °C.

Hence, the areas with hot spring have been developed into spa towns and health tourism routes. It starts with the pilot project in Krabi province with hot springs, cold waterfalls, sea and mud, as highlights to develop into a spa town and sustainable wellness tourism destination.
