Development of medical and wellness tourism

      At the same time, for the medical and wellness tourism to be successful and to drive the economy with the BCG Model, Thailand needs to invest in infrastructure and create important mechanisms necessary for driving the country towards becoming a center of medical and wellness tourism as follows:

1. Infrastructure and Links
      The promotion of medical tourism and joint health needs to link modern medicine with Thai traditional medicine also known as “applied Thai traditional medicine”, which is to bring scientific knowledge and medical science to develop and apply to explain the treatment of Thai traditional medicine in various forms, such as the use of herbal medicines or procedures such as Thai massage, herbal compresses, steam baths, as well as providing advice on matters related to health promotion in terms of infrastructure. In terms of infrastructure, there should be improvements in travel infrastructure and public transport systems that facilitate travel linking between tourist provinces, main cities and secondary cities.

2. Standards of cleanliness, convenience and safety
      Enhancing the safety of life and property of tourists for tourists to have confidence in traveling and resting in the country with technology to track and monitor via an application system that registers to locations to be able to monitor travel and quarantine in case of COVID 19 outbreak.

3. Sustainability
      Promotion of environmentally friendly tourism throughout the industrial chain (Green Supply Chain) from travel, restaurants, hotels, accommodation, souvenir shops, covering raw material suppliers to entrepreneurs such as organic raw materials, safe agriculture, and local raw materials or materials which can be found in communities near tourist attractions, create a database of tourist attractions of the country (Big Data) to analyze tourist behavior, create an attraction strategy, products and services that meet the needs of tourists, as well as developing information systems to manage environmental problems such as waste problems. 

4. Communication
      The key to create a sustainable growth of the Thai tourism industry is to "build a brand of Thainess and develop a local identity" to increase the value and value of Thailand tourism and communicate to tourists to recognize the country's standards which are international and reliable to build confidence for tourists to revisit the country for vacation again and spread the word through experiences through acquaintances or various platforms of social network.
