 BTS Skytrain (Green Line) Guide

      The Bangkok Mass Transit System (BTS) operates the Green Line Electric Train Project (Light Green Line and Dark Green Line), known as BTS Skytrain, The project currently has two routes of 68.25 kilometers combined, with a total of 60 stations.

The Sukhumvit Line (Light Green) runs from Kheha Samut Prakan to Khu Khot. 

      The route starts from Kheha Samut Prakan, in the southeast, and runs along Sukhumvit Road, passing Bangna Intersection until reaching Ploenchit Road, Rama 1 Road, Phayathai Road, Victory Monument, entering Phaholyothin Road, Sanam Pao, Saphan Kwai, passing Chatuchak, Lat Phrao Intersection, Ratchayothin Intersection, Kasetsart Intersection, Lak Si Roundabout, Saphan Mai, Kor Por Aor Intersection, and ending at Khu Khot, the northern part of the city. It is a seamless connection and covers three provinces, including Pathum Thani, Bangkok, and Samut Prakan Province. The Sukhumvit Line has a total distance of approximately 54.25 kilometers with 47 stations including a joint station (Siam Station), where it has an interchange with the Silom Line (Dark Green Line).

The first train runs at 5:15 a.m. from both Khu Khot and Kheha Samut Prakan.

Operating frequency: 

Monday-Friday: 2.40 minutes during rush hours and from 3.35 minutes to 8 minutes during non-rush hours.

Saturday-Sunday and public holidays: Approximately 4.30 minutes to 8 minutes.

The Silom Line (Dark Green) runs from Bang Wa to the National Stadium.

      The route starts from Ratchaphruek Road, in the west, and Petchkasem Road, going along Ratchaphruek Road and passing Ratchaphruek Road and Wutthakat Road to Ratchada-Talat Phlu Intersection and Taksin intersection, crossing the Chao Phraya River at Taksin Bridge, going along Sathorn Road, turning left onto Chong Nonsi Road, passing Silom Road, Lumpini Park, Rajdamri Road, and turning left onto Rama I Road, going through the junction at Siam Station, and ending in front of the National Stadium, in the heart of Bangkok. The Silom Line has a total distance of approximately 14 kilometers with 14 stations, including a joint station (Siam Station) and the new St. Louis Station.

The first train runs at 5:30 a.m. from both the National Stadium and Bang Wa.

Operating frequency

Monday-Friday: 3.45 minutes during rush hours and 6 minutes during non-rush hours.

Saturday-Sunday and public holidays: Approximately 5.40 minutes to 8 minutes.

      The ticket offices of both lines open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m.

Fares

• The Sukhumvit Line starts from 17 baht and goes up to 62 baht;
• The Silom Line starts from 17 baht and goes up to 47 baht.
• The BTS SkyTrain also connects to other mass transit lines, as follows:
• BTS Mo Chit Station connects to MRT (subway) Blue Line Chatuchak Station;
• BTS Ha Yaek Lat Phrao Station connects to MRT Blue Line Phaholyothin Station;
• BTS Asoke Station connects to MRT Blue Line Sukhumvit Station;
• BTS Sala Daeng Station connects to MRT Blue Line Silom Station;
• BTS Bang Wa Station connects to MRT Blue Line Bang Wa Station;
• BTS Phaya Thai station connects to Airport Rail Link Phaya Thai terminal station.

      Also, in the future, owing to the increasing development of the rail transportation system, there will be more connecting stations between the BTS Skytrain and other train lines.
