BTS Sky Train Gold Line Guide

BTS Sky Train Gold Line Guide

The Gold Line Project started from the idea of developing a secondary electric train of the Bangkok Traffic and Transportation Department in 2009 to solve the problems of the main electric train system, as it foresaw that the area of Klong San, in Thonburi District, grew rapidly as well as being the center of trade, religion, and administration of Thonburi. At present, there are four stations: Krung Thon Buri Station, Charoen Nakhon Station (Icon Siam), Khlong San Station, and Prajadhipok Station. It is considered a short-distance electric train project with a total distance of only 2.8 kilometers.

The electric train system used for the Gold Line is the Bombardier Innovia APM 300 electric vehicle, the country's first self-driving line, with the light rail and a maximum speed of 80 km/h. This model has three trains, with two cars per train, one car carrying 138 passengers, and one train carrying 276 passengers. Two trains are used to pick up passengers, and the other train is reserved in the system.

The route starts from Krung Thon Buri Station and passes along Krung Thon Buri Road, turning onto Charoen Nakhon Road, passing Wat Suwan, Icon Siam, Khlong San District Office, turning left onto Somdet Chao Phraya Road through Taksin Hospital and ending at Khlong San Station.
Service hours: Every day from 6:00 to 12:00 a.m.

Frequency: Every 6 minutes during rush hours and 8-12 minutes during non-rush hours.

BTS Skytrain Gold Line fare is 16 baht at a flat rate, with a special discount of 8 baht for senior ticket holders.

However, the fare for the Gold Line BTS is not included with the BTS main lines. Passengers traveling from the main line to the Gold Line will pay the fare separately at Krung Thon Buri Station to access the Gold Line.

Connecting stations: Currently, it connects with the BTS Skytrain Dark Green Line (Silom Line) at Krung Thon Buri Station, and in the future, it will be able to connect with the BTS Purple Line from Tao Poon - Rat Burana, and the BTS Red Line from Hua Lamphong - Bang Bon - Mahachai.
