The Marvel of Trat’s Sea! A Rare Sight of Multi-Colored Jellyfish

An astounding natural phenomenon has returned. Every late rainy season, from October to November, the sea near Khlong Son village in Laem Klat sub-district, Mueang District, Trat Province, fills with vibrant jellyfish in shades of white, green, blue, and brown. These colors are especially visible when the water is clear and the waves are calm, creating a mesmerizing sight for visitors. The ideal time to witness this spectacle is between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Various species of jellyfish can be observed here, including the Tonod jellyfish, Lod Chong jellyfish, cup jellyfish, and safe-to-view fire jellyfish. There is also the box jellyfish from abroad, which requires extra caution due to its potentially dangerous sting. To reach the jellyfish-watching spot, visitors must use local fishing boats, which provide life jackets and follow strict safety guidelines to ensure a close and secure viewing experience.

Precautions for Viewing Jellyfish

  • Always wear a life jacket.
  • Avoid touching the jellyfish.
  • Carry vinegar for first-aid in case of stings.
  • Bring an umbrella and hat for sun protection.

Come experience the enchanting colors of the Thai sea, an annual event at Khlong Son village, Trat Province.
