Thailand’s 'Travel Ivory Free' promotes Elephant-Friendly Tourism
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has maintained its unwavering support for the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Thailand and its 'Travel Ivory Free' campaign, which encourages travelers to conduct responsible travel by not purchasing ivory items. WWF Thailand recently unveiled a campaign highlighting its ongoing efforts to change tourist purchasing habits and end the illegal ivory market. The event was attended by a large number of travel industry stakeholders and international organizations, all of whom had a common goal of raising awareness and advocating for sustainable tourism practices.
TAT has consistently supported the 'Travel Ivory Free' campaign from its debut in 2018, and the advent of the 'Elephant Care Tourism' project in 2020 will only strengthen their commitment. These programs work together to protect Thai elephants while also promoting responsible tourism.
Tourists are welcome to participate in the 'Travel Ivory Free' program in key tourist destinations throughout Thailand, including international airports and shopping malls, to help raise awareness and experience sustainable tourism in Thailand.
