Driving Thailand’s medical device industry can create sustainability for domestic consumption by placing emphasis on building the capabilities of the medical device industry from the current situation, in which entrepreneurs are original equipment manufacturers (OEM), to the creation of technological capabilities at the medium-high level. This change will lead to the development of Thailand’s own complex technology for manufacturing medical devices for domestic use, which creates long-term sustainability. The goals, strategies, and action measures must be clearly specified.
The purposes are as follows:
1. To create added value for the domestic medical device manufacturing industry, which will support the medical hub policy;
2. To enhance research and innovation capabilities for the Thai manufacturing and service sectors by promoting the production of Thai medical device products that meet international standards and support public health security;
3. To increase opportunities for Thai people to have access to low-priced and standardized medical equipment, which will also reduce social inequality.
