Renewal of student visas, and reporting every 90 days

      Foreigners who hold a Non-immigrant ED visa will be able to stay in Thailand for 90 days at first. If they want to get an extension, they must apply for a visa extension one month before the expiration date at the Immigration Office, which will consider allowing them to stay from the date specified in the letter of introduction from the institution, school, or university, but not more than one year (annual extensions are possible for students in formal schools).

      When an applicant applies for renewal, the immigration officer will grant a visa for 30 days to wait for the approval of the one-year visa; when the 30-day permit period is near, the applicant returns to the Immigration Office, with their passport, to hear the results of the consideration. If the result of consideration is successful, a visa will be granted for one year. But if the considerations are not completed, the visa will be extended for another 30 days until the results of the consideration come out. 

      In the case of studying at a formal school, the staff will grant permission according to the period approved by the school, but not more than one year each time. As for the case of studying at a non-formal school, the officer will grant permission according to the period approved by the educational institution, but not more than 90 days at a time and no more than one year in total from the date of entering Thailand. The types and characteristics of non-formal schools, such as teaching religion, arts and sports, tutoring, and building life skills, are announced by the Private Education Promotion Board. 

      However, after obtaining a one-year visa, the student must submit a self-report form (TM.47) to request to stay in Thailand every 90 days immediately at the immigration office in the area. Late submissions will be fined 2,000 baht. 

      As for international students who come to internship in the form of training, since it is not a job, use the word "training". Otherwise, they must apply for a work permit and when it is necessary to leave Thailand in any case. When it is necessary to leave Thailand in any case but the visa has not expired and wishes to maintain the status of the visa Must apply for Re-Entry (TM.8) before leaving the country. to apply for a permit to return to Thailand again at the nearest immigration office or at the international airport to leave the country. If there is no Re-Entry, the visa will be canceled automatically after leaving the country.
