Government expands 15 specialist branches of Long-Term Resident Visa (LTR Visa)

     Thailand aims to attract a new group of foreign residents with high potential in terms of skills and expertise in modern technology. Wealthy people, including people who want to work from all over the world, invest in their work and stay for the long term. Since Thailand is foreigners' leading destination for travel and work, a new type of visa, the "Long–Term Resident Visa (LTR Visa)," has been issued.

     To achieve the objectives and goals of attracting people with specialized skills and making qualification certification more flexible, the Board of Investment (BOI) has proposed to improve the target industry further by certifying foreigners with specialized skills in 15 highly skilled professional fields, as follows:

  1. Automotive industry

     

  2. Electronic industry

     

  3. Quality tourism industry

     

  4. Agriculture, food, and biotechnology industry

     

  5. Transportation and logistics industry

     

  6. Industrial automation and robotics

     

  7. Aerospace industry

     

  8. Biofuels and biochemical industry

     

  9. Petrochemical and chemical industry

     

  10. Digital industry

     

  11. Medical industry

     

  12. Defense industry

     

  13. Industries that directly support the circular economy, such as waste fuel production, water resource management

     

  14. International Business Hub (IBC)

     

  15. Other industries requiring specialized skills in a particular area, such as researchers in target industries or technologies, experts in AI, digital systems, finance, environment and energy, experts in start-up incubation projects, and trade and investment promotion organizations from abroad.
