Development of information and data system to support Thailand Medical Hub

Thailand Medical Hub.

The strategy to develop Thailand into Thailand Medical Hub (Medical Hub Policy) (2017-2026) in Strategy 1 is to increase competitiveness in health service provision through the improvement of infrastructure, facilities and management systems in order to support Thailand Medical Hub Policy. For these strategies, important activities for the development of information and data system are identified in order to support the Medical Hub policy. The objectives are to establish a database supporting approaches to increase competitiveness in health service provision and to promote Thailand as the Medical Hub

However, there is no systematic collection of data on the Medical Hub from various authorities. The Department of Health Service Support, which is the main authority in the administration, driving and supporting the Medical and Wellness Tourism policy, therefore conducted researches and surveys to collect data on the use of medical services and health services of foreign tourists in order to create a Medical Hub Intelligence Center (MHIC), a data center for promoting and developing Thailand into Thailand Hub of Wellness and Medical Service by the year 2026.

The Medical Hub Intelligence Center is the data center for driving all 4 aspects of the Medical Hub Policy which are 1) Wellness Hub, 2) Medical Service Hub, 3) Academic Hub and 4) Product Hub. This is achieved through the execution of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the establishment of a data center supporting the Medical Hub policy with relevant authorities. The objectives are to be used as a reference source for medical tourism, to generate income from medical tourism in Thailand and to support decision-making in promoting health service business and data analysis.

In addition, there are health information services available to Thais and foreigners on the website www.thailandmedicalhub.net and Counter Service at Suvarnabhumi Airport providing information on Medical Hub policy and receiving complaints from consumers about medical services via telephone number +66 2193 7999. In the fiscal year 2018, a Counter Service was established to provide medical hub information for both Thai and foreign tourists at Don Mueang Airport.
