Seven spectacular destinations for the rainy season - Pai, Mae Hong Son

Another spot that's a big hit with both Thai and foreign tourists is Pai, in Mae Hong Son province. Pai, or Pai district, is a charming place filled with enchanting sites and a simple, slow-paced lifestyle. There's plenty of homestays and accommodations ready to welcome tourists, and countless activities and attractions. But what really draws in especially foreign tourists is tubing down the Pai River, a refreshing activity that has tourists floating down the 3-kilometer river on rubber rings.

Another equally popular tourist activity is paying respect and worship at Wat Nam Hu, one of Pai's oldest temples and a historic symbol of the town. Besides that, Yun Lai Viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of Pai, including a sea of mist, alternating with large and small mountain views, while offering a glimpse of the Yunnan Chinese's distinctive local lifestyle.

Next, you can't miss the chance to witness a stunning sunset at Chedi Phra That Mae Yen, another of Pai's oldest and most important temples. Here, tourists often pay homage to the Buddha Lokuttara Mahamuni, a large, white Buddha statue that you reach by climbing more than 300 steps. From this height, you get to see the beauty of Pai from a high viewpoint and enjoy the sunset, one of the best views in Pai, with the backdrop of the mountains amidst the calm atmosphere.

To wrap up your day, make sure to walk down Pai Walking Street, a must-visit nighttime landmark. The charm of Pai Walking Street lies in its local crafts and contemporary products, local food, and various international cuisines. Enjoy local music performances and visit several other attractions, like Pai Canyon (Kong Lan), a spectacular unseen terrain in Pai resulting from the collapse of soil on a high mountain, resembling the ghost town of Phrae province. It also offers another beautiful viewpoint of Pai.

And if you're into cafes, Pai has got plenty to choose from, each decorated in their own unique style. A trip to Pai promises happiness, smiles, and an unforgettable impression.
