One-Day Trip on the Community Tourism Route at Koh Sichang in Chonburi

Community Tourism Route: Koh Sichang Community in Chonburi

Chonburi Province is another popular tourist destination among Thai and foreign tourists because it is convenient to travel to and close to Bangkok. You can try as many dishes as you want and enjoy activities and tourist attractions in one place!

For people who don't have much time, we would like to recommend the island of Koh Sichang – a famous place for relaxation that you can visit in one day.

Koh Sichang was once the location of a pavilion built for King Rama V, but it is now a port for international ships. There are many tourist attractions on this island, such as Pra Juta Rajathan Museum, which is the only palace on an island built during the reign of King Rama V. It was used as a temporary pavilion for the king and his family. It is open for visitors so that they can see the charming architecture along the beach.

Asdang Bridge is known as the “love bridge” because it is a symbol of love between King Chulalongkorn and the people on the island.

The scenic viewpoint at the narrow gorge between Kad Mountain and Hin Klom beach is a memorable sight that is hard to equal anywhere else you’ve been. If you take a boat through this beautiful defile, you will get to see breathtaking sunset views. How romantic!

Jao Po Kao Yai Shrine has a mixed architecture style, combining Thai and Chinese; it is revered and respected by people on the island.

If you are more into conservation tourism, you can help grow a coral reef or release horse crabs into the sea; such events are organized by the Tourism Promotion Club of Koh Sichang.

Moreover, there is the lighthouse of Koh Sichang, the Chinese Goddess of Mercy Shrine, the mandapa with the Buddha's footprint inside, an antique wooden house, and Wat Asdangkanimit for you to visit, as well.

To travel to the island, you can take a boat at Koh Loi port in Sri Raja district. It costs 50 baht per person. Every hour, the boats depart from Koh Loi port from 7 a.m.  to 8 p.m., and from Koh Sichang port from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can rent a motorcycle on the island or a minibus if you're with friends.
