Travel route for the faithful of two religions, Buddhism and Christianity: Sakon Nakhon Christmas Star Parade

The Christmas Star Parade (Dao Thae Rae Festival) of the Tha Rae people, Sakon Nakhon Province, has been famous for many years. It is held annually during Christmas in December, when villagers will join together and decorate their houses and hold a star parade decorated with colorful lights, as well as a parade along the streets of the village to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the prophet of Christianity. The parade is combined with the local culture of the Isaan people, attracting attention from both Thai and foreign tourists, who travel to see the star parade in this Tha Rae community every year.

Tha Rae Village is an old Catholic community over 100 years old and is the location of the Archdiocese of Tha Rae - Nong Saeng covering an area that includes parts of four provinces: Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, and Mukdahan. It is considered the area with the most Christian people in Thailand. Tourists may visit the beautiful houses in French architectural style along the main streets, take pictures, and check out many locations all day without getting bored. The village is regarded as a popular tourist attraction in Sakon Nakhon Province that no one should miss.

Visitors can follow the details and schedules of the Star Parade event on the Facebook page of the Archdiocese of Tha Rae - Nong Saeng, as each year has a different schedule, or phone the Tourism Authority of Thailand hotline 1672.
