Notification of domicile relocation of foreigners residing in Thailand

          If a foreigner residing in Thailand wishes to relocate his/her domicile or residence, the Alien Registration Act 1950, Section 12[3], states that any foreigner who relocates his/her domicile or residence must bring his/her alien identification card to inform the local registrar where the foreigner has his/her former domicile or residence; the information will be written down on the alien identification card before relocating, and the foreigner must notify the local registrar of the new residence within 48 hours from the date of arrival.

          In the event that the foreigner leaves the province where he/she has temporary domicile or residence for more than 7 days, he/she must notify the registrar of the temporary residence within 48 hours from the date of arrival. Notification in this case may be made in person or in writing, in accordance with the form prescribed in the Ministerial Regulations.

The documents for consideration include alien certificate, original documents, and application forms for relocating temporary domicile or residence and proceeding according to the following steps:

- Receive the request, review evidence of house registration and original documents;
- Notes in the certificate and the stub, or the original documents, as the case may be;
- Submit all original documents (except for the stub of the alien's identity certificate, make a copy, or copy from the stub along with certifying such copy, while the stub is still retained in the same locality) to the local alien registrar where the foreigners will move within 15 days.
