Queen Suthida Showcases the Timeless Elegance of Thai National Dress During France State Visit

During the State Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand to the French Republic on 29 June 2026, Her Majesty Queen Suthida elegantly showcased two distinguished ensembles from royally favored Thai costumes, referred to as “Chud Thai Phra Ratchaniyom,” reflecting the enduring beauty of Thai craftsmanship and the nation's rich cultural heritage.

In the official welcome ceremony at the Hôtel des Invalides, Her Majesty was dressed in a soft pink Thai Amarin dress (Chud Thai Amarin). Gracefully presented, the ensemble highlighted the sophistication of Thai textile artistry and embodied the refined traditions of Thai dressmaking, offering a striking expression of Thailand's cultural identity.

In the evening, Her Majesty attended the official State Banquet at the Élysée Palace wearing a contemporary interpretation of the Thai Boromphiman dress (Chud Thai Boromphiman) in an elegant purple tone, featuring a distinctive double-shoulder sash. The ensemble reflected the timeless elegance and ceremonial refinement of Thailand's royal attire.

Both the Thai Amarin and Thai Boromphiman are among the eight styles of the Thai national dress, introduced under the royal initiative of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to preserve, promote, and present the unique beauty of traditional Thai women's attire to the international community.

Throughout the State Visit, Her Majesty's choice of royally favored Thai costumes represented far more than the preservation of an invaluable cultural legacy. Each ensemble served as a graceful expression of Thailand's artistic heritage, showcasing the exquisite craftsmanship of Thai textiles and traditional dress, while reaffirming Her Majesty's aspirations to preserve Thai identity. Through these elegant appearances, Thailand's cultural richness and national pride were presented to the world with dignity, reinforcing the country's image and enhancing its cultural presence on the global stage.
