Chef Pam-Pichaya Suntornyanakij of fine dining Thai-Chinese restaurant Potong has won The World’s Best Female Chef 2025 award, becoming the first Thai and first Asian to receive this prestigious global recognition, announced in late March.
Chef Pam previously earned the Asia’s Best Female Chef 2024 title and is renowned for founding Potong in Bangkok’s Chinatown. Her concept highlights the flavors and stories of Thai-Chinese descendants by renovating her family’s historic Chinese pharmacy building.
Though only open for five years, Potong has gained international acclaim, featured in the Michelin Guide and consistently ranked in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants from 2023 to 2025, rising from No. 35 to No. 13 last year. It also ranked No. 88 in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2023 and improved to No. 57 in 2024.
Chef Pam’s dedication and skill are a source of pride for Thailand, elevating Thai cuisine on the world stage with distinction. The results for The World’s Best Restaurants 2025 will be announced this June.
