Thailand–UK Academic Partnership Launches Dual-Degree Program to Strengthen Global Competitiveness

Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation has underscored a major step forward in internationalising Thai higher education with the official launch of a dual-degree academic collaboration between Southeast Bangkok University and the University of Chichester in the United Kingdom.

The collaboration is designed to elevate the quality of Thai higher education to international standards by integrating global academic expertise with local learning contexts. It aims to expand access for Thai students to high-quality overseas qualifications without requiring them to study abroad, while equipping graduates with future-ready skills aligned with global labour market demands.

Under the agreement, the University of Chichester serves as the sole awarding institution. Students who complete approved programs at Southeast Bangkok University will receive degree certificates, transcripts, and official academic documentation directly issued by the UK university, in accordance with its academic regulations. This structure ensures full international recognition of qualifications while allowing students to study in Thailand.

The academic offerings span a wide range of disciplines, including Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration, Master’s programs in Education across multiple specialisations, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Information Technology, a Bachelor of Arts in Business English, and a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia and Esports. Each program has been carefully selected to align with international education trends and the evolving needs of industry.

The initiative is positioned as a model for reinventing Thai universities through global partnerships, addressing challenges such as talent outflow and skills mismatches. By embedding a UK-style learning ecosystem—emphasising analytical thinking, practical application, and English-language proficiency—the program seeks to cultivate globally competent graduates capable of contributing meaningfully to both domestic and international economies.

The partnership also marks the establishment of Chichester Bangkok as a regional academic gateway, reinforcing Thailand’s ambition to position itself as a competitive education hub in Asia.
