Thailand Strengthens Innovation Ecosystem as IP Department Partners with PTT to Promote Commercial Use of Intellectual Property

Thailand’s Intellectual Property Department is expanding collaboration with the country’s leading energy conglomerate to enhance innovation development and strengthen intellectual property protection across key industries. The partnership aims to accelerate the commercialization of research and technology, boost competitiveness in global markets, and reinforce the role of intellectual property as a driver of national economic growth.

A central focus of the initiative is the enhancement of fast-track IP registration systems for emerging fields, including medical technology, future food, and environmental innovation. These streamlined channels significantly shorten registration timelines, enabling businesses and researchers to respond swiftly to market demands. The department is also supporting international expansion through the PCT system for patents and the Madrid Protocol for trademarks, helping innovators secure protection in major global markets while reducing costs and administrative burdens.

The collaboration additionally promotes effective IP management through licensing, transfer, and IP-based financing mechanisms, enabling businesses to access funding and scale innovation more efficiently. As part of its broader strategy, the department is inviting private-sector partners to participate in the upcoming IP Fair 2026, a major platform for showcasing Thai innovations, facilitating business matching, and promoting commercial transactions in intellectual property on both domestic and international stages.
