Thai PM Launches Land Nominee Crackdown to Inspect High-Risk Properties

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has chaired the launch of "Stop Nominee," an operation enforcing land sale regulations and inspecting high-risk land ownership to protect national interests. The initiative targets illegal foreign land ownership through nominee arrangements, which pose a threat to national security, fair resource access, and economic stability.

To tackle the issue, the government has directed the Department of Land (DOL) to coordinate closely with the Board of Investment (BOI) and align all related agencies around three key action areas:

1️⃣ Prioritize & Expand Investigations
The DOL and provincial governors will prioritize high-risk cases, working to clear timelines with designated officers assigned to each case. Any confirmed links to nominee networks will be immediately referred to the relevant authorities for further action.

2️⃣ Enforce Laws & Prevent Nominee Swapping
Legal action will move forward alongside thorough audits of ownership and transfer histories, closing loopholes that allow perpetrators to shift land ownership to new nominees and evade accountability.

3️⃣ Enhance Preventive Surveillance
Screening systems for land rights and legal transactions will be upgraded at both the pre- and post-registration stages, backed by clear public guidance to help citizens and business operators understand and follow the law.

Guided by the principle of "Disregarding Names, Focusing on Conduct," this initiative reinforces transparency and the rule of law — safeguarding Thailand's national interests while supporting honest, legitimate businesses.
