Chiang Mai Hosts Textiles and Fashion Soft Power Exhibition

On June 2, 2026, Central Chiangmai hosted the opening of an exhibition and an academic forum promoting Thai textiles and fashion as cultural assets with international potential.

The event was presided over by Public Relations Department Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem and was attended by representatives from Chiang Mai and Nan provinces, government officials, local residents, entrepreneurs, and tourists.

Held under the Creative Design Project for the Production and Dissemination of Soft Power Public Relations Media in the Fashion Sector, the event promotes the use of Thai textiles in contemporary fashion while recognizing the contributions of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother to the preservation of Thai fabrics. The forum also acknowledges the roles of Her Majesty the Queen and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya in expanding the profile of Thai textiles.

The exhibition features work from ten model textile and fashion communities across Thailand, showcasing how traditional craftsmanship and local wisdom can be adapted into modern fashion products. Activities on the opening day (June 1) include academic discussions on textile fashion and cultural innovation, as well as a fashion show featuring actor and artist “Mew” Suppasit Jongcheveevat. The event was held on June 1-3, 2026, while additional regional events are scheduled in Songkhla, Udon Thani, and Bangkok later this year.
